Gintoki is attending a movie premiere when he encounters a pirate. Upon reviewing the footage from the cameras, he discovers that this individual was not actually a pirate but rather an android time machine that has transported him five years into the future. His companions Shinpachi and Kagura have become battle-hardened solo vigilantes after having a falling out with Gintoki, who had gone missing for years following a mysterious disappearance. In order to investigate the White Plague epidemic that ravaged the world's population in this futuristic version of Edo, Gintoki disguises himself and reunites with his Yorozuya team. Through perseverance and determination, he comes to realize that the key to saving the future lies within the darkness of his own past. With a group of friends and allies by his side, Gintoki is able to confront powerful foes and overcome adversity.
