Takaya ougi is a typical high school student who desires nothing more than to safeguard his closest friend and lead an ordinary life. however, he encounters nobutsuna naoe, an elderly individual who reveals that takaya possesses abilities to expel malevolent spirits and combat the fuedal underworld. unlike other reincarnates, takaya does not recall his previous existence before being revived. naoe is appreciative of this because of his tumultuous past with lord kagetora, whom he was passionate about but also abused. as takaya hones his skills, he starts to recollect what naoe did due to his affection for him. meanwhile, the dark forces of the hojo and fuma clans launch their attack as the fuedal underworld threatens the living world.
