In this story, we meet Remy, a kind-hearted girl living with her mother in a small town in France. One day, her father returns after being away for an extended period working in the city. During their conversation, he reveals that she is not their biological daughter. Later on, Remy almost gets sold to an evil slave trader. However, Vitalis, a traveling performer, comes to her rescue and discovers her talent for singing. He decides to take her under his wing and join his troupe.
