The Iwatobi Swim Club members, including Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana, are faced with the challenges of growing up as they enter middle school. While Makoto is able to adapt quickly and remain positive about swimming, Haruka struggles to make friends and join his school's swim club due to his past issues with swimming. The rest of their classmates also face difficulties in deciding which clubs to participate in. After an argument leads them to join the swimming club, they work together to improve their skills, harmonize their styles, and overcome any conflicts they may have towards each other. Through determination and talent, they discover themselves and enhance their abilities during their starting days.
