Goro was previously the swimming coach at the Iwatobi Swimming Club where he trained Haruka, Makoto, Nagisa, and Rin during their grade school years. Currently, he works as a part-time pizza delivery man. However, he later resumes coaching Haruka, Makoto, Nagisa, and Rei at the swimming club. While Goro is generally relaxed, he can become quite strict when it comes to training the Iwatobi boys.
