Roy was a stunt pilot in hikaru ichijyos father's air circus before joining the u.n. forces as a fighter pilot. although he was away during the u.n. wars, he remained close to hikaru and considered him his sempai. after the war ended, roy worked on the vf-x development project (the predecessor to the vf-1 valkyrie) and led the first u.n. variable fighter unit. his experience earned him command of the vf-1 skull squadron aboard the cvs-101 prometheus. roy is known for his love of alcohol and women.
