Fukuda is a prominent character in bakuman who founded team fukuda. after finishing high school, he left home to work as an assistant for eiji niizuma at crow with mashiro. although fukuda did not win the tezuka award when he tried, he received an honorable mention and came in seventh place in the same issue where ashirogi's money and intelligence won third place. later, fukuda competed against ashirogi and nakai in the golden future cup with his original manga, kiyoshi knight. after successfully serializing kiyoshi knight, fukuda quit his job as niizuma's assistant and gained a new one named yasuoka. his editor is yujiro. with the success of kiyoshi knight, fukuda became an aspiring rival to ashirogi, eiji, and nakai. despite having poor drawings that often border on grotesque, fukuda's stories match his emotional swings. he is competitive and enjoys competing with others. however, he can also be conceited at times. despite this, fukuda is a good friend (and rival) to those around him.
