Yukie Sakamoto is Ryōta Sakamotos mother and Hisanobus wife. Prior to the series, Ryōta rejected his mothers attempts to get him a real career outside of gaming, and tried to convince her to stop being a NEET. He would often argue with his step-father and scold his mother during their disagreements. Eventually, it is revealed that Yukie nominated her son to be put into the island simulation by Tyrannos Japan. After Ryōta has been on the island for a few days, Yukie attempts to commit suicide by slitting her wrists with a razor blade in the bathroom. However, Hisanobu finds her when he arrives home and covers her wounds with a towel before calling an ambulance. She confesses that she nominated Ryōta because she knew her husband had been laid off his job and would not be able to support the family, as well as due to Ryōtas poor treatment of her and Hisanobu. Yukie apologizes to both her son and husband for her actions.
