Netflix has released an English-translated trailer for the upcoming anime movie adaptation of Riyoko Ikeda's manga series "The ." The video reveals that the movie will be available on Netflix starting on April 30th, with both subtitles and an English dub available.

The English cast includes Caitlin Glass , Megan Shipman , Karen Strassman , Ryan Colt Levy , Andy Delos Santos, Brandon McInnis , Daman Mills , Talon Warburton , Greg Whipple, Damian Haas, J. Michael Tatum , Kiff VandenHeuvel , Barbara Goodson , Alejandro Saab , Jon Hall, and Shelby Young .

On January 31st in Japan, both the movie and the anime series titled "Berubara Mini!" were released simultaneously. Each episode of the anime was released in conjunction with the movie screening for four weeks.

In its initial three days, the movie made US$704,200 or equivalent to 108,158,300 yen. It placed ninth during its first weekend.

The film "Ai Yoshimura" directed by MAPPA was written by Tomoko Konparu, who also wrote "Ashita no Nadja" and "Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 1000%". Mariko Oka was in charge of character design for this film, having previously worked on "First Love Monster" and "Hell Girl". Hiroyuki Sawano was responsible for the music production for this film, working alongside Kohta Yamamoto who also contributed music.

Ayaka performs the theme song "Versailles."

The staff describes the story:

Oscar François de Jarjayes, raised as the "son" and heir of a general's family, masquerades as a beautiful woman in men's clothing. Marie Antoinette arriving from neighboring Austria as a bride to become a noble and graceful queen.. Oscar's servant and childhood friend, the commoner André Grandier. Hans Axel von Fersen, a handsome and intelligent count from Sweden. They meet in Versailles, France in the prosperous late 18th Century and live their respective destinies beautifully while being tossed about by the tides of times.

In the early 1970s, Ikeda published his adaptation of the original manga in Shueisha's Weekly Margaret magazine. This work of fiction centers around love and destiny amidst the political intrigue of Queen Marie Antoinette's court during the French Revolution. Lady Oscar is a character who was brought up as a man to serve as a palace guard.

Since December 2019, Udon Entertainment has been making available the manga series in English. They have now released all volumes of the series in omnibus form. Additionally, they have licensed the side story manga of The , but have not yet released the first volume.

In 1979-1980, an anime was made based on a manga. This anime had 40 episodes and was released in North America by Right Stuf in 2013 as two DVD sets. Later on, Discotek remastered the series in HD and released it as two volumes in 2021.

Besides the TV anime show, there is also a 1990 animated movie based on the manga. Since 1974, there have been musical performances by the Takarazuka Revue featuring only women. There is also a live-action film from 1978 that was made in collaboration with France and Japan. Additionally, DLE Inc. has produced authorized parody videos using Flash animation more recently.

The game "Private BeruBara Academy: Rose of Versailles Re*imagination" was released in May 2019 and was based on the manga "Shiritsu BeruBara Academy ~ Versailles no Bara Re*imagination~".
