Netflix has released an English-translated trailer for the upcoming anime movie adaptation of Riyoko Ikeda's manga series "The ." The video reveals that the movie will be available on Netflix starting on April 30th, with both subtitles and an English dub available.

In the early 1970s, Ikeda published his adaptation of the original manga in Shueisha's Weekly Margaret magazine. This work of fiction centers around love and destiny amidst the political intrigue of Queen Marie Antoinette's court during the French Revolution. Lady Oscar is a character who was brought up as a man to serve as a palace guard.
Since December 2019, Udon Entertainment has been making available the manga series in English. They have now released all volumes of the series in omnibus form. Additionally, they have licensed the side story manga of The , but have not yet released the first volume.
In 1979-1980, an anime was made based on a manga. This anime had 40 episodes and was released in North America by Right Stuf in 2013 as two DVD sets. Later on, Discotek remastered the series in HD and released it as two volumes in 2021.
Besides the TV anime show, there is also a 1990 animated movie based on the manga. Since 1974, there have been musical performances by the Takarazuka Revue featuring only women.
