Until the end of April, Sasaki will not be returning to work.
On Monday, Isao Sasaki, who is both a singer and a voice actor, announced that he was currently in the hospital due to an acute exacerbation of interstitial pneumonia.
In January, after coming back from Thailand, Sasaki wasn't feeling good so he went to see a doctor. Due to his low blood oxygen level, the doctor called for an ambulance and admitted him to the hospital. He has since been discharged at the end of February and is currently recovering at home. Despite this, he is still facing challenges and will not be able to return to work until the end of April.
In the 1970s, Sasaki sang numerous theme songs for well-known sci-fi and action anime series such as Gasshan, Getter Robo, Galaxy Express 999, Star Blazers, and The Ultraman. He also lent his voice to Joe the Condor in Gatchaman, Hajime Saito in Star Blazers: The Comet Empire, and Daisuke Shima in Final Yamato.
