Film by Serial Experiments Lain director Ryūtarō Nakamura screens at The Beacon
On Thursday, it was revealed that Tomcat's Big Adventure, which is part of the Wamomo Nights anime film series, will have its second screening in North America at The Beacon in Seattle, WA on June 15 at 5:00 p.m.
On April 14th, the movie had its first showing in North America at the Texas Theatre in Dallas, TX. As part of the "Wamono Nights" series, it was shown with Japanese dialogue and English subtitles.
The film was directed by Ryūtarō Nakamura who also wrote the script. Manabu Ōhashi was in charge of animation direction and character design. Kenji Kawai composed the music while Hiromasa Ogura served as art director. Toshiyuki Inoue, Hiroyuki Okiura, Kōichi Arai, and Makiko Futaki were part of the animating team.
The movie is inspired by Masumi Iino's kids' stories. Despite being popular in Japan, it has been hard to find outside of Japan. In this animated film, Tom and his companions embark on an exciting adventure at Mt. Pinto during their summer break with the goal of saving the world.
The film stars Toshiko Fujita as Tom, Masako Nozawa as Mark, Mika Kanai as Laura, Minami Takayama as Alex, Ryoko Sano as Amy, and Ryūsei Nakao as Bob, Akio Ōtsuka as Leonis, Chika Sakamoto as Tiki, Hiromi Tsuru as Chloe, Kappei Yamaguchi as Michael, Katsunosuke Hori as Dawn, Nobuo Tobita as Rudo, and Yūko Kobayashi as Lamaru.
