Blue Period's Kentarō Hagiwara helms film off script by Anime Supremacy's Yōsuke Masaike




On Thursday, the second season of the Wind Breaker anime series by Satoru Niitsuma ended on Friday with a teaser video announcing a live-action film adaptation that will be released in December.

In Okinawa from February to April, the team filmed using local locations. They leased a shopping street, decorated each storefront for the movie, and constructed a massive outdoor set.

Kentarō Hagiwara is directing a film based on a script written by Yōsuke Masaike, who won Japan Academy Prize for his previous work Anime Supremacy! and Girl & Her Guard Dog. Warner Brothers is distributing this film.

Kodansha USA Publishing acquired the rights to publish the manga in English and began digital distribution in spring 2022. They are now also launching print versions of the series, with new volumes being released monthly starting in July. According to the company, this is their description of the manga.

An adrenaline-filled manga set in a high school for delinquents who are now heroes protecting their town. A fierce, new student arrives at the school determined to fight his way to the top and become the strongest of them all. This edgy, action-packed manga is guaranteed to excite fans of Tokyo Revengers and other stories about high school delinquents.

Haruka Sakura is not interested in associating with individuals who lack strength. He is solely focused on engaging in combat with the strongest of his peers at Furin High School, a school renowned for its physical prowess and its role in safeguarding their community from harm. Despite his recent enrollment at this institution, Haruka has no intention of assuming the role of a hero or joining any team; instead, he intends to compete individually in order to ascend to the pinnacle of his class.

Nii launched the manga in Kodansha 's Magazine Pocket app in Japanese in January 2021.

The Wind Breaker game was released on March 12 for smartphones and PC. It also had a stage play adaptation which was performed in Osaka from January 1-3 and in Tokyo from January 10-19.
