Dark Horse releases manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft story on October 28
On Tuesday, Dark Horse Comics announced that they have acquired the rights to produce a manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's novella "The Shadow Out of Time." This manga will be released in bookstores on October 28th and in comic book stores on October 29th. Zack Davisson, who previously translated Dark Horse Comics' English releases of Tanabe's H.P. Lovecraft adaptations, will return as translator for this project. Steve Dutro will be responsible for lettering the manga.
Dark Horse describes the manga:
Nathaniel Wingate Peaslee was once a respectable professor of political economy. Though he taught at Miskatonic University in Arkham, his temper was of a reasonable sort, not at all interested in the occult. That has changed. In 1908, standing in the lecture hall, Professor Peaslee saw his classroom suddenly twist into an uncanny, alien vista, and he collapsed unconscious.
Nathaniel Peaslee, who had previously been known for his normal behavior among friends and family, underwent a transformation during his travels and research. He began associating with unfamiliar individuals and spoke about abstract concepts such as time, distant lands, and existence. His strange behavior caused concern among those who knew him, including his wife and children. It wasn't until 1913 that Professor Peaslee regained his sanity, with no recollection of what had transpired during his mysterious absence. Driven by curiosity about those missing years, he embarked on a global journey that led him to a location where a vanished race still existed outside of time.
