Yōsuke Kaneda's The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch Manga Gets TV Anime in 2026
Kaede Hondo, Nobunaga Shimazaki star in LIDEN FILMS anime
On Tuesday, a site was launched to unveil that a TV anime version of Yōsuke Kaneda 's manga series Kuroneko to Majo no Kyōshitsu will be airing in 2026. Along with this announcement, they shared the main cast, staff, and a promotional video for the show.
The anime will star:
Kaede Hondo as Spica Virgo, a witch apprentice aiming to become a first-class magician
Nobunaga Shimazaki as Claude Sirius, a magician who was transformed into a cat due to a curse
Naoyuki Tatsuwa is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS for Nisekoi - False Love, Promise of Wizard, and Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! Midori Gotō is in charge of series scripts for Clean Freak! Aoyama kun and Mr. Villain's Day Off, while Takayuki Onoda is designing characters for Hortensia Saga.

Witch apprentice Spica Virgo can't use magic at all.
In order to attend her desired magic school, she lacks both financial resources and connections.
One day, a mysterious black cat who speaks and wields magic appears before her!
Spica wants to master sorcery, and the black cat longs to break a curse. The pair's goals align.
Thus begins their secret master-apprentice pact!
And the key to breaking the curse is a kiss on the...?!
In March 2022, Kaneda released their manga series through Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app. On Thursday, Kodansha will release the 12th volume of this manga in English through their K MANGA service.
In 2015, the manga series "Boarding School Juliet" was introduced by author Kaneda in "Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine." It was later moved to "Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine" in 2017. After ending serialization in September 2019, the final compiled book volume was released in Japan in November of that year. "Boarding School Juliet" was nominated for "Shōnen" category in the "41st Annual Kodansha Manga Awards" in 2017. "Kodansha Comics" released the series digitally and in print in English.
In October 2018, a 12-part TV series was released as an anime adaptation. This show was exclusively available for streaming on Amazon Prime both in Japan and internationally.
