Tojima Tanzaburo Wants to be a Masked Rider Anime Reveals Opening Song, October 4 Debut

On Wednesday, it was announced that the anime adaptation of Yokusaru Shibata 's Tojima Tanzaburo Wants to be a Masked Rider ( Tōjima Tanzaburō wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai ) manga will have its opening theme song released on October 4th. This song was performed by Teddyloid feat. Shigeru Matsuzaki and was accelerated by TOPHAMHAT-KYO ( FAKE TYPE. ). The song was composed by Teddyloid, Emme, and TOPHAMHAT-KYO ( FAKE TYPE. ), with lyrics written by Konnie Aoki. Aniplex also shared a comment video from one of the song artists, Shigeru Matsuzaki.
On October 5th at midnight JST, Tokyo MX will air the anime for its first episode.

At LIDEN FILMS, Takahiro Ikezoe (Ozma from Show by Rock!!) serves as director for the anime project. Tōko Machida (Allison & Lillia from Wake Up, Girls!) handles the series scripts. Cindy H. Yamauchi (Blade from Sōten Kōro) designs the characters, while Teddyloid (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt from New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT) composes the music for the project.

The manga follows the titular Tanzaburo Tojima, a man who has just turned 40 and who still seriously dreams of becoming a Kamen Rider . Just as he is about to give up on this dream, he gets caught up in a "false Shocker" robbery.
In 2018, the manga was introduced in Monthly Hero's magazine with support from Ishimori Production and Toei. It has since continued on Comiplex. As of April 4th, Hero's has released its 16th collected volume.
Earlier works by Shibata include Air Master and 81diver. He finished 81diver in July 2014. An anime adaptation of Air Master was produced in 2003, while a live-action TV series based on 81diver was released in 2008. In North America, DVD releases of Air Master were handled by Geneon Entertainment and Toei Animation before Funimation took over the license. Currently, Crunchyroll is streaming Air Master.
