Remake of 2000 PS1 game launches for Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
During the recent Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix unveiled Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, which is a remake of the original 2000 game for PS1 called Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past . This version of the game is separate from the remake that was released for Nintendo 3DS . The release date for this updated version is set for February 5th on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Microsoft Store on Windows. The trailer showcases the enhanced 3D graphics of the game.
The revised version includes an improved narrative with a more efficient gameplay process, a dual career system similar to "Moonlighting," a new profession called "Monster Master," and various enhancements to improve gameplay overall.
The Collectors Edition of the game comes with additional items such as a SteelBook case, Smile Slime plush toy, ship in a bottle figure, and three downloadable content packs. Meanwhile, the Digital Deluxe Edition offers early access for 48 hours as well as unique costumes for Ruff and the same three DLC packs.
In Japan in 2013,
Square Enix launched the remake of Dragon Quest VII for
Nintendo 3DS. This version boasted enhanced graphics compared to its original PlayStation release. Additionally, the Western version included not only new graphics but also a fresh translation when it was launched in September 2016.
Enix released Dragon Quest VII for PS1 in Japan in 2000 and North America in 2001.
On October 30th, the HD-2D versions of Dragon Quest I and II will be released on Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam on Windows.
