Who Made Me a Princess Chinese-Animated Series Reveals Main Promo Video, More Japanese Dub Cast
Daoko, XAI perform theme songs; Azumi Waki, Junichi Suwabe, more join cast
On Friday, Kadokawa announced the release of a major promotional video and additional cast members for the Chinese adaptation of the Japanese webtoon "Aru Hi, Ohime-sama ni Natteshimatta Ken ni Tsuite" by Plutus and Spoon.
Furthermore, it was disclosed by Kadokawa that Daoko would sing the introductory tune "Ii yo" (Alright) and XAI would execute the concluding melody "Sono Hitomi de" (In Those Eyes).
The additional cast members include:
Azumi Waki as Lilian York, a maid at the Ruby Palace who has raised Athanasia
Kana Hanazawa as Diana, Athanasia's late mother and the former empress of the Obelian empire
Roger Alpheus is Junichi Suwabe's father and he is a high-ranking official in the Obelian empire.
Hidenori Takahashi as Anastacius, a mysterious man who has some kind of connection with Duke Alpheus
The TV show, made by iQIYI, will start streaming in Japan on September 28th. After that, it will be shown on TV nationwide starting from October 1st.
The previously announced Japanese dub cast includes:
- Sumire Morohoshi as Athanasia, the princess protagonist reborn into a tragic royal fate
- Tomoaki Maeno as Claude, the cold and merciless emperor and Athanasia's father
- Ryōhei Kimura as Felix, the cheerful and dashing knight
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Lucas, the mysterious magician
- Shūichirō Umeda as Ijekiel, the kind and talented noble heir
- Manaka Iwami as Jennette, the gentle girl tied to Athanasia's destiny
The webtoon follows Athanasia, a modern woman who suddenly wakes up in the body of a princess destined to be executed from a romance novel she once read. Determined to survive, she must navigate palace intrigue, win over her tyrant father Claude, and carve out a new future.
Over 200 million people have viewed the anime series online, while more than 2.2 million copies have been printed (including digital versions). Additionally, it was ranked as the second most desired anime to be animated in 2022 by AnimeJapan, and it placed seventh in the same category in 2023.
Fans can read the official English version of the webtoon on TappyToon ( link ) and Tapas ( link ) . Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the series in print.
