Chiisakobee is a novel by Yamamoto Shuguro set in modern times that reimagines the Edo era. It follows the story of Shigeji, a young carpenter who lost everything in a fire and vows to rebuild his family's company according to his father's words: "What truly matters throughout history is humanity and strength of will." He hires Ritsu as an assistant at Daitome and also takes in children from an orphanage. The novel explores the themes of kindness, resilience, and the importance of family and community.

Chiisakobee was published in Spanish by ECC Ediciones in 2016.The series won the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award in 2013.
