Takemoto resides in a dilapidated student apartment, where his main concerns are when he will be able to afford meat again and whether he will arrive at class on time. Despite being away from home and living independently, Takemoto is still maturing. Along with his eclectic group of friends, including Morita, Mayama, Yamada, and Hagumi, Takemoto embarks on a journey to explore life and discover his true identity.
Hachimitsu to Clover won the 27th Kodansha Manga Award in shoujo category in 2007.The series started serialization in CUTiE Comic magazine (chapters 1-14), and after suspension of the magazine, moved to Young You (chapters 15-56), and the last 8 chapters were published in Chorus (chapters 57-64).The series was published in English as Honey and Clover by VIZ Media under the Shojo Beat imprint from March 4, 2008 to June 1, 2010.
