Kagome Higurashis normal routine is disrupted abruptly when a demon abducts her and transports her five centuries back in time. During this period, she discovers two crucial facts: demons reside among humans and she has unknowingly brought along a hazardous item from her world-a marble-sized gemstone known as the Shikon Jewel. This unique gem grants immense power to any demon who possesses it, making Kagome an attractive target for those seeking to acquire it. While battling a demon, Kagomes hasty effort to defend herself accidentally shatters the jewel, scattering its fragments throughout feudal Japan. She later realizes the severe repercussions of her actions when she teams up with Inuyasha, a half-demon, to retrieve all the pieces before they fall into malevolent hands.
