Ten years ago, a mysterious phenomenon called hells gate appeared in tokyo, causing the night sky to become dark and new stars to emerge, each representing an individual with supernatural abilities. these individuals, known as contractors, are devoid of emotion and conscience, making them powerful killers. despite their existence being largely unknown to most people, including high-schooler kana shinoh, who is still grieving the death of her father last year. however, when she spots her father in the street one day, kana becomes determined to prove he's alive and starts searching for him. her mission attracts dangerous attention, but she is rescued by hei, the most wanted contractor in tokyo. although unsympathetic, hei agrees to protect kana as she continues her search for her father. however, she must question how much she should trust the notorious black reaper.
