In a moment of desperation, Edward Elric gave up his body and soul to save his brother Alphonse. Now he is stranded in Munich, Germany, which is going through an economic crisis following World War I. He finds it challenging to adjust to this new environment. As he tries to find a way out, he works alongside colleagues who resemble many of the people he left behind. There are growing tensions among German citizens as they struggle with their humiliation. Meanwhile, Alphonse is investigating Edward's disappearance and delving into alchemy in hopes of finding his brother again.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shamballa won the Best Animation Film Award in the 2005 Mainichi Film Awards, the Animation of the Year and Best Original Story awards in the 5th Tokyo International Anime Fair, and the Best Animated Film prize in the 2006 Fantasia International Film Festival.
