Following the demise of his parents, Yuuto Amakawa leads a relatively uneventful existence in the city. His only concern while attending school alongside Rinko, his neighbor, is his cat allergies. However, everything changes on his sixteenth birthday when an Ayakashi attacks him for the transgressions of his ancestors. Fortunately, he is rescued by Himari, a mysterious woman with a sword who reveals that Yuuto descends from a lineage of demon-slayers and that she has been dispatched to safeguard him now that the enchantment that concealed him from supernatural entities has waned.
Himamori Himari narrates Yuuto's encounters with various forces of the supernatural realm, as well as the escalating number of females who appear at his doorstep, each harboring their own nefarious intentions. Will Yuuto be capable of adapting to this exhilarating new environment? Or will the vengeful spirit of his ancestors haunt him?
Omamori Himari takes from the first five volumes of its source material with some noticeable deviation in the content and plot, leading to an anime-exclusive finale.
