In 2039, ten years after the outbreak of the "Apocalypse Virus," which is commonly known as "Lost Christmas," Japan has fallen under the rule of GHQ, an independent military force that aims to restore order. The resistance against this oppressive regime comes from Funeral Parlor, a guerilla group led by Gai Tsutsugami. During a crucial mission, Inori Yuzuriha encounters Shuu Ouma and bestows upon him the "Power of Kings," an ability that allows one to draw out an individual's personality or "voids." Now unwillingly involved in the struggle against GHQ, Shuu must master his newfound power if he hopes to help liberate Japan. Guilty Crown is a thrilling series that follows the journey of a high school student who finds himself embroiled in war, possessing an ability that will allow him to uncover the secrets of the GHQ, Funeral Parlor, and Lost Christmas. However, as he delves deeper into the truth, Shuu learns that the cost may be far greater than he ever imagined.
The first two episodes of Guilty Crown were screened at the New York Anime Festival on October 15, 2011. The screening of the second episode was a world premiere as the episode did not air in Japan until October 20, 2011.
