After sustaining a shoulder injury while practicing judo at university, introverted first-year student Haruki Bandou is relieved to have an opportunity to quit the sport, as he had been unable to derive pleasure from it despite his family owning a dojo. However, he did not anticipate that his best friend Kazuma Hashimoto would also decide to leave their university's judo club at the same time. Despite Haruki's protests, Kazuma has already made plans for an innovative and groundbreaking activity: an all-male cheerleading team. Although hesitant, Haruki eventually agrees to assist his friend in establishing the team. Through sheer tenacity and with the support of their new club members, Haruki and Kazuma persevere in founding the Breakers, the first ever male cheerleading squad at Meishiin University, despite the challenges posed by the stereotypes associated with the sport, as well as the physical demands and self-doubts that inevitably arise.
The series is inspired by the real-life cheerleading team from Waseda University, called Shockers. Theyre internationally ranked as a cheerleading team.
