In history, a select group of shrine maidens known as "Toji" have safeguarded humanity against "Aratama," malevolent beings intent on destruction. Today, these warriors serve in a special police squad tasked with eliminating Aratama. The government has established five elite schools to equip young girls with the necessary sword-fighting abilities to combat these monsters and eventually join their fellow Toji in safeguarding the world. A student from one of these academies, Kanami Etou, is selected to represent Minoseki Academy in a tournament. There she encounters Hiyori Juujou, with whom she rises to the top. However, their contest takes an unforeseen turn, plunging the realm of the Toji into turmoil. It seems that betrayal may be emanating from within, forcing Kanami and Hiyori to escape the tournament and confront former allies on their journey.
