In the human realm, Squad 10 is tasked with safeguarding a royal convoy carrying an artifact known as the "Ouin." Captain Toushirou Hitsugaya and Lieutenant Rangiku Matsumoto monitor the area closely until the procession is ambushed by attackers. They manage to steal the Ouin, leaving behind a distraught Hitsugaya who pursues the thieves. However, his efforts are in vain as he is left alone with an injured squad and branded a traitor by the Seireitei for abandoning his post. Meanwhile, Ichigo Kurosaki investigates a spiritual anomaly when he encounters Captain Hitsugaya, who flees unexpectedly. Rukia Kuchiki, Renji Abarai, and Matsumoto join forces to clear Hitsugayas name and uncover the truth behind the Ouin's theft. Meanwhile, a ghost from his past haunts him as he hunts down the real culprit.
