The events of Free!: Eternal Summer and Free!: Dive to the Future are followed by four distinct stories in Free!: Take Your Marks. In Unmei no Choice! (Destined Choice!), Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana search for a new apartment for Haruka as he settles into Tokyo. Aiichiro Nitori chooses a graduation gift for Rin Matsuoka and Sousuke Yamazaki in Hitou no Cooling Down! (Cooling Down at the Secret Hot Spring!). Rei Ryugazaki, Nagisa Hazuki, and Gou Matsuoka create a recruitment video to attract new club members for the next school year in Kessoku no Batafurai! (United Butterfly!) Finally, Tabidachi no Etanaru Buru! (Departing Eternal Blue!) explores the Iwatobi and Samezuka swim teams plans for Rins surprise going-away party as he prepares to depart for Australia.
