Chang was originally from China where he lived as an impoverished farmer with a pig farm. Despite owning pigs, most of them escaped causing him financial difficulties and heavy taxes. Feeling hopeless, Chang attempted suicide but was interrupted by a bullet from Black Ghost that cut the noose. He passed out and was later taken to their laboratory where he regained consciousness. In the 2001 series, Chang owned a restaurant due to his culinary skills which made him well-versed in cooking. However, after doing a fire-breathing trick, he burned down his restaurant and lost everything else. Black Ghost agents picked him up when he fainted. Chang possesses the power of breathing huge flames which allows him to create tunnels underground for attacks on enemies with explosions. Despite this, Chang is known for his jovial personality and refined culinary skills that always lift the spirits of his teammates.
