On March 31st, Monday, Anime Limited is launching two versions of The Movie: Angel Dust - a Blu-ray Steelbook Blu-ray (pictured) and a standard Blu-ray edition. Their website describes the story as follows.

Ryo Saeba, also known as City Hunter, is a renowned "sweeper" in the criminal underworld. Operating out of Shinjuku as private detectives, Ryo and his partner Kaoru Makimura accept various assignments from clients. Their current case involves finding Angie's missing cat. Angie is a filmmaker who has hired Ryo for his good looks while Kaori is attracted to the substantial reward offered for this task.

While Zoltech is being investigated by Saeko Nogami from the police department in Tokyo, there is a new form of Angel Dust being developed by this biotech company. This advanced technology enhances soldiers on the battlefield into superhumans at the request of an unknown criminal organization. This innovation is being scrutinized by law enforcement officials due to its potential dangers.

Is there any connection between Angie's request and Angel Dust? It seems that there is more to Angie's request than she is letting on, and the revelation about Angel Dust is about to lead Ryo into a crucial confrontation with ties to Ryo's past as a sweeper.

In September 2023, a movie celebrating its 35th anniversary was released in Japan. This was directed by Kenji Kodama at Sunrise and The Answer Studio Co., Ltd., with Yasuyuki Mutō (Deadman Wonderland) writing the script.

In the upcoming film, the three Kisugi thief sisters from Cats Eye anime will be back. Keiko Toda and Chika Sakamoto will reprise their roles as Hitomi and Ai, while Rica Fukami will play Rui. Unfortunately, Toshiko Fujita, who voiced Rui in the original anime, passed away in December 2018. Other returning voice actors include Akira Kamiya as Ryo Saeba, Kazue Ikura as Kaori Makimura, Harumi Ichiryūsai as Saeko Nogami, Tesshō Genda as Umibōzu, and Mami Koyama as Miki.
