Yū Mitsuki launches manga adaptation of mystery series by Rental Magica, Lord El-Melloi author
Last Friday, Makoto Sanda's Majo Suiri (Witch's Deduction) novels were adapted into a manga series on Kadokawa's Kadocomi manga website by Yū Mitsuki.
The gothic mystery novels center on Kunori Orizue, a beautiful and mysterious girl who calls herself a "witch," when all manner of mysterious and questionable incidents happen in her vicinity. She reunites with a childhood friend named Takumi, who gets drawn into all the incidents around Kunori.
In August 2023, Sanda released the initial book of the series, followed by the second volume in December of the same year. Both novels contain illustrations by Kaomin.
In April 2019, Sanda and illustrator Isuo Tsukumo released Wizard's Blue (Majutsushi no Ao) as a spinoff manga of The Ancient Magus' Bride by Kore Yamazaki through the Manga Doa app. This manga ended in March 2024. Seven Seas licensed Wizard's Blue and released its eighth volume in April 2024.
In 2004-2013, Sanda released his Rental Magica light novels in 24 volumes as part of Kadokawa's magazine. Before its discontinuation in 2011, it was serialized in Kadokawa's magazine. In 2007, a 24-episode anime adaptation of the series premiered. Right Stuf released the series on DVD in North America.
In essence, "The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II" is a light novel series in the Fate/stay night universe by Kinoko Nasu and Type-Moon, which focuses on a character from Gen Urobuchi's Fate/Zero spinoff novels. Toh Azuma adapted this series into a manga in October 2017. Additionally, "The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II" inspired both the television anime "Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace note" in 2019 and the anime special in 2021.
Sanda served as the game leader for the "Red Dragon" role-playing session that later became the basis for the Chaos Dragon anime series. Kinoko Nasu, co-founder of Type-Moon and writer of Fate/stay night, played in the game alongside Gen Urobuchi, author of Fate/Zero, and other Japanese authors.
