Lina Arashi, Taichi Saotome play aspiring ballerina Chizuru, Russian youth Ruslan
On Tuesday, Shochiku released a teaser trailer for Paris ni Saku Étoile ( Étoile Blossoming in Paris), an upcoming anime film directed by Gorō Taniguchi ( Code Geass , One Piece Film Red ) and produced by Arvo Animation . The video announced two additional cast members.
The newly announced cast members are:
- Lina Arashi ( My Small Land ) as Chizuru, a scion of samurai lineage skilled in the naginata blada, who is drawn into the world of ballet
Ruslan is a young Russian guy living in Paris with Fujiko in the same apartment building. He is portrayed by Taichi Saotome in the anime series.
Image via L'étoile de Paris en fleur anime's X/Twitter account Two Japanese women, Fujiko and Chizuru, both determined to achieve their goals of becoming painters and ballerinas respectively, encounter each other by chance in Yokohama at the turn of the 20th century. Despite facing difficulties, they continue to strive towards their dreams and eventually meet again in Paris where they collaborate diligently to fulfill their aspirations.
The tagline in the teaser visual above reads, "I want to blossom, in this city."
Arvo Animation is directing the film with Gorō Taniguchi, who is known for his work on Code Geass and One Piece Film Red. Katsuya Kondō, who has previously collaborated with Ghibli on films such as Kiki's Delivery Service and Ponyo, is drafting the original character designs for the first time with Taniguchi. Ami Tōma, who has starred in Lonely Castle in the Mirror and live-action Chihayafuru - Megumi - , is playing Fujiko in the film.
