Watanabe, Kikuchi play protagonist Yumeko's parents
On Monday, the Twitter page for the TV show adaptation of Mamakari Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love ( Debu to Love to Ayamachi to! ) revealed that Yasuhiro Kikuchi and Akeno Watanabe have joined the cast as Yumeko's father (on the left) and mother (on the right), respectively.

The anime stars Aya Endō as Yumeko Kōda and Yūma Uchida as Keisuke Yūki. Uchida also performs the ending theme song "Watashi de Yokatta!!!" (I'm Glad It's Me!!!). GANG PARADE performs the opening theme song "Happy Yummy Lucky Yummy."
Kazuomi Koga is overseeing the animation production of "Rent-A-Girlfriend" at Marvy Jack. Aya Watatane is in charge of writing the screenplay and series composition for "Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love." Atsuko Takahashi is designing the characters for both "Rainy Cocoa" and "Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love." Takahashi is also serving as a chief animation director alongside Kyoko Kametani of "Fruits Basket" and Izumi Yamanaka of "Dog Signal." Satoshi Hōno and Karin Nakano are composing the music for "Rainy Cocoa" and "Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love," respectively.
NTT Solmare publishes the manga in English through its MangaPlaza service ( link ) , and it describes the story:
"This is the punishment for a fat, ugly girl like me falling in love with someone as beautiful as you..." Yumeko had a mountain of complexes about herself. Then, a terrible accident befalls her. Though somehow saved from the brink of death, Yumeko wakes up a completely different person. "This is...me...?! I'm SO cute!!" Those around her can't hide their surprise and wonderment at this 180°change... But, Yumeko's new hyper-positive attitude starts to change her surroundings, too. Worries and complexes can affect anyone, and Yumeko will chop right through those of her various supporting characters!! In love, work, friendship... And an attempted murder case?! This frenzied romantic comedy will leave you bubbling with energy!
In 2019, Mamakari started publishing the manga. Then, in June 6th of this year (2023), NTT Solmare released the digital version of the 13th compiled book volume of the manga. This manga also inspired a live-action series adaptation that was released in November 2022.
