Tokyo High School for Armed Detectives, commonly known as Butei High, is an exceptional institution that nurtures future detectives or "Butei." Kinji Tooyama, a sophomore student at the school, possesses a distinctive body that activates into "super mode" when stimulated. He conceals this ability from others to maintain a tranquil lifestyle. However, his peaceful existence was disrupted following an explosion in which he encountered members of Butei High's elite "Assault" department, including Aria H. Kanzaki.

Hidan no Aria has been published digitally in English as Aria the Scarlet Ammo by Digital Manga Publishing since September 30, 2013, though only two volumes have been released so far.
