Saki: Achiga Chapter, 咲-Saki- 阿知賀編 episode of side-A

The Achiga Girls Academy once defeated Bansei High School, a regional powerhouse in mahjong, and advanced into the semifinals of the national team. However, they lost to the eventual champions. After six years, Shizuno Takakamo befriends Nodoka Haramura at an elementary school. The two later attend Achiga Girls Academy together, but Nodoka transfers out in the second year. When Shizuno sees Nodoka on TV as a national middle school mahjong champion, she decides to revive Achiga's disbanded mahjong club.

Saki: Achiga-hen - Episode of Side-A was initially serialized in Shounen Gangan until March 12, 2013, where it was concluded with 20 chapters. On March 25, 2020, the series restarted after 7 years in Big Gangan under the same title.
