In Season 2 of Tales of Zestiria: The Cross, Sorey is a young human who grew up among seraphims, spiritual beings that humans can't see. Sorey believes in the legend that all humans could see seraphims in the past and hopes to solve the mystery that would allow humans and seraphims to live peacefully together. During his first visit to the human capital, Sorey gets involved in an incident that leads him to wield a sacred sword embedded in a rock, becoming a Shepherd who drives away evil from the world. As he realizes the weight of his mission, Sorey's dream of coexistence between humans and seraphims intensifies. Consequently, he embarks on a journey with his companions.
