2nd new full music video "Chasing destiny" streamed last week
On Monday, Nagaru Tanigawa released the complete music video for "Colorful Starting Line," which is the third song in the new series of Haruhi Suzumiya light novels.
The full music video for the second song "Chasing destiny" streamed on August 4:
Kadokawa streamed the full music video for "Invincible(ish) Happiness!" on July 28.
After achieving the third objective of the crowdfunding campaign in November, the production of the three songs began.
On November 15th, a campaign began which lasted until January 15th. On its first day, it achieved its first two objectives for one new song and its corresponding music video. In total, it raised 86,825,276 yen (equivalent to approximately US$595,000).
The new song featuring Haruhi, Mikuru, and Nagato was funded by an initial goal of 10 million yen or approximately US$65,000. The music video included a 3D model of Haruhi dancing. An additional 15 million yen or approximately US$97,000 was raised for the second goal, which added 3D models of Mikuru and Nagato. Aki Hata and Tomokazu Tashiro, the songwriters of the anime's "Hare Hare Yukai" ending theme song, collaborated on the new song, with Tashiro serving as the composer and Hata writing the lyrics.
The physical backer rewards are expected to be delivered around February 2025, and the digital backer rewards will be distributed later in the year, specifically in the second half of 2025.
Image via Haruhi Suzumiya franchise's X/Twitter account On November 29th, the first new volume in four years from the Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series was released globally. It was made available for purchase on both Kadokawa 's BookWalker Global site and Yen Press in English on the same day.
This book contains two brief narratives that were initially printed in Kadokawa's The Sneaker publication, as well as a continuation of those tales.
The short story "Suzumiya Haruhi Gekijō: Fantasy-Hen" was published in August 2004 in The Sneaker magazine. It follows the SOS Brigade as they are transported into a fantasy world. This story is continued in the follow-up volume "Kaete Kita Suzumiya Haruhi Gekijō" in June 2006 in The Sneaker magazine. Additionally, a new sequel short story was added in the latest volume of this series.
Between 2003-2011, Tanigawa and illustrator Noizi Itō created 11 books as part of their original series. These books were translated into English by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and Yen Press, who released them in 10 volumes in English between 2009-2013. All of these volumes are currently available in digital format as well.
In November 2020, Kadokawa released "The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya," which combined two previously published short stories with one new one. Meanwhile, Yen Press released the English digital version at the same time as the print version in June 2021.
In 2006, the initial release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime was out of order. Later in 2009, new episodes were broadcasted along with a new chronological sequence. Kyoto Animation was responsible for animating the show's first two seasons. Initially, Bandai Entertainment held the license for both seasons, but Funimation later released the anime in 2016.
The books have given rise to both manga adaptations and additional manga series. Some of these derivative mangas have subsequently been turned into anime productions.
