Gigi Murakami's one-shot comic, titled "Resenter," was nominated for Viz Media's Digital Book of the Year award.
In 2018, the Harvey Awards introduced a new category for manga called "Best Manga". Kabi Nagata's My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness was the first manga to win this award. In 2019, My Hero Academia by Kōhei Horikoshi won the award, while Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama won it in 2020. Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto won the award for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. Finally, Delicious in Dungeon by Ryōko Kui won the award in 2024.
Previously, manga were put up for consideration with other comics for the "Best American Edition of Foreign Material" award. Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama won this category in 2014. One-Punch Man and Showa: A History of Japan (1953-1989) were also contenders in 2016 but did not receive the award. Unfortunately, this category is no longer part of the awards program.
In contrast to the Eisner Awards and other accolades given in the North American comics field, the Harvey Awards are chosen by comics professionals themselves through nominations and selections.
The Harvey Awards will announce the winners at New York Comic Con on October 10.
