According to Ascendent Animation, there is no connection between them and Walker. They did not establish or lead the organization.
On July 30th, Ascendant Animation issued a statement about voice actor Kiba Walker, also known as "Salem Moon" in drag and LGBTQ+ communities. This was in response to allegations that Walker had sent sexually suggestive messages to minors. The company stated that they had no personal or professional affiliation with Walker and had not had any contact with them since January of 2022.
According to Ascendent Animation, Walker was neither the President nor the founder of the company. Additionally, Cole Feuchter did not hold the position of Vice President at the time. It is important to note that Walker was hired as a voice actor and director for the early series, while also assisting with adaptation efforts. On Thursday, Ascendent Animation made this statement on ANN regarding their partnership with Walker.
" Ascendent Animation would have never worked with Kiba if we had been aware of such deplorable behavior. One of the reasons he was dismissed was because he kept speaking for the company without authorization. He continued to do so even after his departure. We even sent a cease and desist, and only then did he finally stop making public commentary about his 'company position'.
Our company intentionally ended our relationship with Walker in late 2021 because of his unacceptable behavior. He engaged in inappropriate and unprofessional conduct, used our company name without permission, and committed other serious offenses. At that time, we were not aware of the specific allegations that would later be made against him. Despite this, we continued to communicate remotely in order to fulfill any outstanding obligations we had together.
Previous press releases and the company's X/Twitter account ( link ) According to X/Twitter, Walker was previously referred to as both the President and Chief Operating Officer of Ascendent Animation. However, in response to a comment on X/Twitter, Ascendent Animation clarified that Walker did not have authorization to send out press releases on behalf of the company. Any press releases sent by Walker before 2022 contained inaccurate information. Official press releases are issued by the company through its marketing department, while OceanVeil, WWWave Corporation's anime streaming platform, sends press releases on behalf of Ascendent Animation for dubbing licenses. Additionally, it was revealed that Walker started the "@AscendedAnime" X/Twitter account. ( link ) After parting ways with Walker, Ascendent Animation took over the account and unblocked the voice actors that Walker had previously blocked. This move allowed them to promote their own claims and social media accounts.
According to Ascendant Animation, Walker's assertions about being the President, COO, and founder were made independently on his social media accounts. However, the company pointed out that his initial tweet contained a misspelling of the company name he claimed to have founded, which is "Ascendant" instead of "Ascend Entertainment" or "Ascend Ent." It seems like basic knowledge for a founder to know the correct name of their own company.
Ascendent Animation was founded by K. Cornell Kellum and Steve Warky Nunez. Nunez has been and continues to serve as the President and CEO of the company. There has never been an official Chief Operating Officer or Vice President role at Ascendent Animation.
In the past, Ascendant Animation did not openly address rumors about Walker's role in the company because employees were worried about retaliation. The company later apologized for causing harm and misleading people.
Ascendent Animation has clarified that Kiba Walker is not their President or COO, nor is he their founder. ANN has acknowledged their mistake and expressed regret for any confusion caused by their previous statement.
On July 30th, voice actor Korey Soloman made claims that Walker had sent him sexually suggestive messages when he was just 15 years old. At the time, Walker was 22 years old. Soloman, who goes by Blade or BladeWillBe professionally, stated that he had been groomed by Walker since 2017. He also mentioned that he had stopped all communication with Walker in 2023.
On the next day, James Molloy made accusations against Walker that he had started grooming him and sending sexually suggestive messages when he was just 17 years old in April 2017.
Both Solomon and Molloy's allegations are supported by screenshots of the messages with timestamps.
On August 1st, Pride in Dallas announced that they had ended their relationship with an individual after receiving allegations about one of their local community performers. This performer, known as Walker under their "Salem Moon" drag name, had previously performed at the bar 1851 Club in Arlington, Texas. Additionally, game developer BLits Games stated that they had cut all professional ties with Walker, including replacing their voice as Yoshino in their Scoutmaster Season game.
