This story revolves around two roommates, Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Ootomo, who make three promises before living together for the second year. These promises include that Mao should not reveal Hisashi's sexual orientation or relationship with another man, that Hisashi should never fall in love or make advances on Mao, and that they should respect each other's personal time. However, their relationship is put to the test when the film club casts Hisashi in the lead role for their upcoming movie about boys' love. Although Mao tries to dissuade him from taking on this role due to their first promise, Hisashi is convinced by the director. This causes Mao to become self-conscious about his feelings towards his roommate, who he knows is just a friend but he can no longer deny his attraction towards him.

Tasogare Out Focus was released on Blu-ray in three volumes from October 25, 2024, to December 27, 2024.
