yama, Soushi Sakiyama perform theme songs; Toshihiko Seki, Hiroaki Hirata join cast




On Monday, the team behind the TV anime adaptation of Sand Anime by Paru Itagaki shared some exciting news in their main promotional video. They announced that Yama will be singing the opening theme song titled "Adult Chic Children" (not yet confirmed) and Soushi Sakiyama will perform the ending theme song "Diary". Additionally, they revealed that Amazon Prime Video will be streaming the series worldwide starting October 4 at 2:53 a.m. JST (October 3 at 1:53 p.m. EDT).

Additionally, the staff revealed a new visual and two more cast members:

- Toshihiko Seki as Hifumi Ōshibu
- Hiroaki Hirata as Saburō Yagiuda

The anime is set to launch on October 3rd during the "Animeism" block on TBS, MBS, and BS-TBS. Its world premiere took place at Anime Expo on July 4th.

The anime will star:

- Ayumu Murase as Kazushige Sanda
- Hiroki Tōchi as Santa Claus
- Umeka Shōji as Shiori Fuyumura
- Anna Nagase as Ichie Ono
- Yūki Shin as Hitoshi Amaya
- Misato Matsuoka as Nico Kazao


Science SARU is directing the anime series with Tomohisa Shimoyama as its director. Kimiko Ueno is supervising and writing the scripts for the series. Masamichi Ishiyama is serving as both character designer and chief animation director for the series. FPM's Tomoyuki Tanaka is composing music for this animated series for the first time.

Titan Manga will release the manga in English starting in September, and it describes the manga:

In a near-future Japan, Christmas has faded into myth, and the birth rate
has dropped so dramatically that children are now the most precious
commodity. Society has artificially extended adolescence to preserve
their youth, and traditional holidays, like Christmas, are a mere legend of
the past.

Volume 1 of SANDA introduces Sanda Kazushige, a
middle-school student who unexpectedly becomes entangled in a strange and
dangerous mystery. When his classmate, Fuyumura Shiori, accuses him
of carrying a curse that could help find her missing friend, Ono Ichie,
Sanda's journey undergoes a significant change. Along with others, they set out to solve the mystery surrounding Ichie's absence.
and uncover the hidden magic of Christmas itself.

As they delve deeper into the mystery, the duo faces external threats
and internal challenges—questions about loyalty, courage, and the
power of belief. Along the way, they confront the true meaning of
friendship, trust, and the possibility of magic in a world that has all but
forgotten it.

In July 2021, the manga series "Itagaki" by BEASTARS began its publication in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine by Akita Shoten. The series concluded in July 2024 with the release of its 16th and final volume in Japan in October 2024.
