In 1983, she completed her education at Joshibi University of Art and Design's Department of Arts with a focus on Japanese-style paintings. Later, while working as an OL, she received recognition for her work by being nominated for the 57th Chiba Tetsuya Manga prize. Her short debut piece titled "Jigoku no Sata to Are ya Kore in Morning magazine was well-received and subsequently changed its name to Hoozuki no Reitetsu, which has become a popular manga series.
