Takeru Narihira was a solitary teenager who spent his days fighting and avoiding friendships while being fascinated by a girl named Tsukimiya, whom he only saw in his dreams. One day, he fell off a cliff and woke up in Denji Heian-kyou, a futuristic version of the ancient capital where technology and mysticism coexist. To his surprise, Tsukimiya was real and living in this place too. However, their joy was short-lived as a deadly black mist known as Yamikaoru descended, bringing forth monstrous beings called Oni. In the chaos, both he and Tsukimiya were killed, only for Takeru to awaken once again in Denji Heian-kyou. Realizing that he had somehow slipped through time, Takeru decided to defy fate by training in onmyou-jutsu under the legendary onmyouji, Abe no Seimei, in order to protect Tsukimiya from her doomed future and uncover the truth behind this strange new world.
