Ryouta Miyagi is known as the speedster and point guard of Shohoku High School's basketball team. He is renowned for his quick thinking and lightning-fast movements on the court, often outmaneuvering his opponents while maintaining a calm demeanor. Born in Okinawa, Japan, Ryouta had an older brother who was also passionate about basketball. Inspired by his brother's success as a local player, Ryouta also developed a love for the sport at a young age. In his second year of high school, he played alongside Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi, and Mitsui on the Shohoku team during their championship run at the Inter-High School National Championship. Now, they are preparing to challenge Sannoh Kogyo High School for the title of reigning champions.

The movie adapts chapters 223 to 276 from the manga while incorporating original scenes created for the film.It won the Best Animation of the Year award at the Japan Academy Film Prize in 2023. It also won the awards for Anime of the Year - Film, Best Director, Best Writer, and Best Visual Arts at the 2024 Tokyo Anime Award Festival.
