For several weeks, an orphanage had been experiencing strange occurrences that only its 18-year-old resident, atsushi nakajima, seemed to be aware of. it was suspected that he might have something to do with these incidents, so he was suddenly kicked out of the orphanage and left without food, shelter, or a place to stay. while wandering through the city, atsushi stumbled upon an eccentric man named osamu dazai who was attempting to drown himself on a riverbank. as a whimsical suicide enthusiast and supernatural detective, dazai had been investigating the same tiger that had been terrorizing the boy. along with his partner doppo kunikida, they solved the mystery together. however, the resolution left atsushi in a difficult position. subsequently, various unusual events unfolded, and atsushi was coerced into joining their supernatural investigation firm, where he took on cases that the police couldn't handle alongside his enigmatic coworkers.

This season adapts chapters 1 through 14 of the manga.
