The narrative revolves around Yasuoka Shion, a 13-year-old Shougi player who has experienced tragedy in his life. When he was just five years old, his parents were brutally murdered in front of him. The killer then challenged Shion to a game of Shougi and told her that if she wanted to survive, she should forget how to speak and forget what had happened that night. Despite being mute, Shion has become a strong player in the realm of female pro Kishi. As his playing abilities gain more attention, so do questions about his past and the murder he witnessed. Slowly, Shions memories begin to resurface, unraveling the mystery piece by piece.
