Zeus had a daughter named Athena, who was the goddess of war. Many young people came to her aid in heroic battles as her "Saints," and their proof of being a Saint was the battle protector known as Sacred Cloth. After an extended period, another struggle is about to take place over the Cloth. A boy named Seiya has journeyed to Greece to receive training to become a Saint and obtained the Bronze cloth, which is the lowest rank among Saints. Each Saint chooses a constellation as their guardian star, and Seiya's is Pegasus. The saints from all over the world are gathering for the "Galactic War," a championship of Saints aiming to acquire the Gold Cloth, which symbolizes rulership among the Saints. The curtain has been lifted on the Galatic War, and during the fierce battles between the Saints, who are some of the strongest young men on earth, Phoenix, the Black Saint, suddenly emerged and seized the Gold Cloth in his ambition to become the ruler of the world. Seiya and his fellow Bronze cloth warriors set out to retrieve the lost Gold Cloth and confront Phoenix and his "Shadow Army." The battles among the Saints have commenced.
