In 0083 of the Universal Century, the rebellious Principality of Zeon was defeated by Earth Federation in the One Year War. However, a group of Zeon survivors led by Aguille Delaz fled and hid away for three years. They are now attempting to rise again, sending Anavel Gato, their ace pilot, to steal one of two secretly developed prototype Gundams along with its deadly nuclear warhead from an Earth Federation research base. The Earth Federation is threatened by the rogue Gundam suit and seeks to maintain peace. They send the newly developed Albion carrier, manned by remaining test pilots including rookie pilot Kou Uraki, who pilots the remaining prototype Gundam. The crew of the Albion is determined to stop Gato from retaining the stolen Gundam and prevent another war from starting.
