For nine generations, a Shikada family has run a sweet shop called Dagashi in the countryside. However, Kokonotsu Shikada, an aspiring manga artist, refuses to inherit his family's business despite his father's pleas. But with the arrival of Hotaru Shidare, who is searching for Kokonotsus father and aims to bring him back to work at her company, Shidare Corporation, a renowned sweets manufacturer, things may change. The senior Shikada agrees to consider changing his mind if Hotaru can convince Kokonotsu to take over the family shop. Thus begins Hotarus mission to show Kokonotsu the joy of running a sweet shop and making delicious dagashi!
