Sora Amamiya began her career in seiyuu by being introduced to the profession by a friend who was an anime fan. After seeing Miyuki Sawashiro's voice acting roles, she decided to become a seiyuu herself. In 2011, Amamiya passed the Music Rayn Super Seiyuu Audition and joined a talent agency. She made her debut in 2012 as a minor character in Aikatsu!, Shinsekai yori, and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. In that same year, she won her first lead role in Isshuukan Friends. Amamiya later joined the seiyuu unit TrySail with Momo Asakura and Shiina Natsukawa, both of whom also passed the Music Rayn audition. She was recognized for her outstanding performance as a newcomer to the industry and received the Best New Actress award in the 9th Seiyuu Awards. Amamiya is affectionately known by her nickname Ten-chan, which is derived from her given name.
